“SOROCHE de los andes” is an Ecuadorian design studio based in Rotterdam, it was founded in 2006 by us: Isadora, Pedro, and Simon. We have been focusing on what we see, enjoy and experience in everyday life. Often we get this feeling; this need of jumping into the wild and be surrounded by nature convinced this is the best way we can connect with each other and get inspired. For this reason, natural cycles, objects, raw materials, and forms play the most important part in our environment.
“Maska” is a paper folding product that creates a 3D head by folding, gluing and assembling a flat paper shape. They can be placed on a wall like art or decoration, but also they are wearable as a mask for a costume or just for fun. They come in blank and they can be painted or customized if wanted. For this first edition “Maska” comes in three different animals, a fox, a deer, and a bear.
Our entire process is made by hand and by us with time and care, The Maskas are die cut with a small mechanical press that we adapted for this purpose, so they are made one by one, piece by piece. And finally packed in a beautiful kraft paper box screen printed by us in a local workshop.
